This real-time multiplayer fragfest will launch with over 15 maps in 3 different environments and includes a variety of weapons such as the Katana, AK-47, Sledgehammer, and Sawed-off Shotgun.

The response to BETA testing has been overwhelming and we anticipate an explosive launch with several thousand simultaneous players. Stick Arena is free and No purchase, Subscription, Account, or E-mail Address is required to play. The 'Quick Start' button will throw you into the action instantly.

October 5, 2005

Bioware is back! One of my favorite game developers, who happen to be situated in my hometown of Edmonton Alberta, have announced a brand new action-RPG hybrid: Mass Effect. The game is set in the distant future with a whole new unique universe created by the minds that brought you Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate and of course Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic.

Mass Effect will be an XBox 360 exclusive. Mildly disappointing but acceptable. I'm positive that the quality of the game will shine no matter the platform. Bioware has big plans for the future, Mass Effect is said to be only the first chapter in a three part epic.

Enough babble, head to the website and check out the trailer and more information on the game.

Ever been on a long car ride with no electronic entertainment at your disposal? Well, have some fun with your hands! Disturbing innuendo aside, here's a brand new twist on a game as old as time. RPS-15 is Rock-Paper-Scissors twisted into something truly diabolical. 12 new gestures are added to the classic three. Will Bob go with his faithful Dragon gesture? I'll just beat him with my Tree gesture! But if he anticipates that and uses a Gun gesture?

Apple continues the steamroller dominance of the portable music player market with the release of a brand new product carrying the iPod brand. The iPod Nano is incredible in presentation. The entire unit is about the thickness of a pencil and yet includes a color display and up to 4 Gigabytes of storage. Impossibly sleek.

August 21, 2005

Greetings once again, fellow XGenians! I'm back from beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia to bring you the final article on the enhanced version of Stick RPG Complete, found exclusively on the XGen Classics Collection CD.

Before I do that, however, I'd like to let you all know that I have been quite busy with another project which many of you may be familiar with - Cinderfall. The production cycles haven't slowed down since I joined the team this past Spring, and that's not going to change anytime soon!

Cinderfall has been given a graphical upgrade, and we will be releasing screenshots as development continues. Check the Cinderfall section in the forums for these screenshots as they are posted.

Over the past few weeks, I have covered the new features found in the enhanced version of Stick RPG Complete, which can be found on the XGen Classics Collection CD. The "Get Your Groove On" dance mini-game and the Treadmill mini-game allow new and fun ways to increase your charm and strength. You also have the option of increasing your intelligence using the new chemistry set feature, which I will touch on in this article!

The chemistry set, which can be purchased from the pawn shop, is one of the most complex features found in the enhanced version of Stick RPG Complete. Once you acquire this item, you are able to find elements around the city which can be used to create combinations. Discovering these combinations is up to you, and when you find one, you will be rewarded! The most interesting part about this new feature is the number of combinations and elements found in the game, which guarantee hours upon hours of game play! You can also compete with your friends on the forums to see who has come up with the best and most rewarding combinations. The more you play, the better combinations you can find.

That's all for this week everyone. Thanks for your support, and I hope those of you who have purchased the CD enjoy the new features found in SRPG Complete!

August 17, 2005

Have you ever wanted to see a Pepsi can shot by a BB gun in super slow motion? Or an egg dropped onto a mouse trap? How about seeing firecrackers explode inside of water bottles? This website falls into the category of "Who cares, but cool none the less". It's all about video taken from special high speed cameras that can record at 1000 frames per second.

Now I can honestly say that I know exactly how the battle of crackers versus sledge would go. I know that Jello is mysterious and indestructible. I have seen how popcorn pops. And I also know that this guy has the worst job in the world.

I'm sure that somewhere and somehow, if you're a gamer, one or many Blizzard games have held a place in your heart. Blizzard is one of the world's foremost game development studios. In case you live under a very large rock-shaped boulder of some kind, I'll refresh your memory; Rock'n'Roll Racing, Lost Vikings, Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft. If all of these words are unfamiliar to you then walk away in shame. Now.

Anyways, that is all beside the point; Blizzcon!! Blizzard is holding a convention to bring together its fans and celebrate its successes on October 28 & 29th. Activities will include a Q&A Panel with developers, tournaments, contests, official merchandise and even a concert with a yet unnamed band. Rumor has it that as ECTS is not being held this year (Blizzard's favorite platform for game announcements) Blizzard will be announcing a new title or two at the conference.

Well, I'd best be returning to my WoW-a-holics anonymous meeting...

August 3, 2005

The sequel to one of the world's most popular games is on it's way! I'm speaking, of course, of Civilization 4.

This is a game I've been waiting impatiently for since it was announced in December of 2003. Firaxis Games has taken a unique approach to building this game. They assembled a group of their most hardcore fans while the title was in early development to continually play the game and provide suggestions on what to change, and how, making a game which is truly for fans of the series.

IGN has a wealth of additional information on Civ 4.

July 26, 2005

Another high class PC title making it's way to us shortly is Black and White 2 from Lionhead Studios. For those unfamiliar: B&W is a "god game" giving you the power to help or hinder the people and creatures within your land with godlike power. The first game received very mixed results from players, some enjoying it for the open ended freedom and power the game gave you and others complaining about not so bright AI and some clunky gameplay elements. I myself thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was.

The second game promises to learn well from the shortcomings of the first game, allowing for much more direct control over your people and creatures. The breathtaking screenshots speak volumes of the game. For some extra in depth opinions of the game, here's some professional previews from EuroGamer, IGN and Gamespot.

Platforms: PC & Mac

Stick RPG 2 Director's Cut is a downloadable game. You can play offline with no annoying ads, listen to the awesome soundtrack in high quality, get free exclusive updates, and use cheats.
