May 3, 2005

I had a chance to see the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie over the weekend and I've been anticipating this for quite some time as I am an an avid fan of the books. I highly recommend the whole series to anyone who hasn't read them.

The movie, though "hollywood-ized", was still quite true to the utter strangeness and quirky nature of the books that made it so endearing in the first place. If you are an ape-descendant of sector ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha then you owe it to yourself to go see this movie. Even the impossible to please critics gave it an above average score. Highly entertaining.

There is also talks that it just may become the first movie in a trilogy...

George Lucas has made his first...

April 28, 2005

George Lucas has made his first convention appearance in 18 years at Celebration 3 in Indianapolis. Not without reason, though, as he has made official the rumors that *two* Star Wars television series are in the works.

First: a live action series that will *probably* not feature any of the main characters from the movies, although it will be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Second: A half hour computer generated show based upon the Clone Wars cartoon series which will most likely feature more action than drama.

If you're a nerd like me (that's ok, it's cool) then this is some pretty exciting news.

As I'm sure many of you already know, the XGenStudios Forums received a huge update late last night. We've now completed our transition from PHPBB to VBulletin, and with that transition comes a significant speed boost and a bunch of new features.

While we're not busy crunching away on the latest and greatest new titles here at XGen, you can bet we'll be hard at work tweaking, customizing, and adding even more features and fun stuff into the forums.

E3 Approaches. Literally billions of your gaming dollars are at stake for the next few years and the big players aren't about to let the competition get the upper hand.

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are gunning for a piece of the pie in the console market and we are approaching an extremely critical time for the entire gaming economy. Microsoft's "XBox 360" (which is now apparently the final name) will be showcased May 12th on MTV, less than a week before E3. This ought to be turning Sony's PS3 green with envy as it is being unveiled during the E3 conference. Nintendo, however, is deciding that it is better to hold off and not jump the gun. Rumor has it that Nintendo considers its console so revolutionary in it's ideas that it wants to withhold as much information as possible until closer to release.

After receiving E-mail offering assistance and well-wishing in our new field, I would like to clarify that yesterday's news post concerning our acquisition by a large company was an April fools day joke. XGenStudios has always been independent and will continue to bring you quality games, such as the new StickRPG Complete, well into the future.
